Joyce Eichacker Photography

I have been photographing for over 15 years.  My first camera was a Pentax 100 given to me by a friend.  I have since changed my format from 35mm to 4x5, and consequently I have changed how and what I shoot.   Dominoes and many of the portraits are 35mm projects - they are more candid and spontaneous.  The interiors and staged projects - projects that allow for more forethought and time are shot with the view camera.  I'm not sure which drives which - the camera drives the style of project, or visa versa, but I suppose this is not important.  The results are.

No matter the format, my projects often reveal themselves to me through humor. My sense of the absurd frequently lures me into investigating  details and subtle eccentricities that generally go unnoticed.  I often anthropomorphize the inanimate, give it breathing life.  In spite and because of this, the resulting images are not always humor-full; they are often poignant and sublime.

I am a recent graduate of Massachusetts College of Art.
